What is Domain Registration, and how is it different from Domain Name Serving?

Domain Registration is the function of registering Domain Names, and maintenance of public Whois records. Previously the monopoly of Network Solutions, there are now many Domain Registrars for you to choose from. Once a Domain Name is registered with a registrar, you are free to assign whatever Domain Name Servers at whatever ISP you choose; you can change from ISP to ISP without changing your Domain Registration.

We charge you a flat fee of $35/year, for 1-10 years. No two year minimum!

What kind of domains can I register?

You can register a .com, .net or .org domain. Remember that "www" is NOT part of the Domain Name, so you're not registering "www.yournewdomainname.com" but "yournewdomainname.com".

Are there any hidden charges?

On the contrary, there are hidden advantages! We offer free Domain Name parking on our name servers, and free mail forwarding, while your domain is current.

I have lost my username and password. How can I access my Domain Name information?

Send a request to hostmaster@compuvar.com and we will EMail that information to the Administrative contact for your domain.

Can I assign my domain to my own name servers rather than yours?

Absolutely. Once your Domain Name is registered, all you have to do is go to the Manage Your Domain screen and change the name server information. Be sure that your Name Servers are set up correctly however.

Can I transfer a domain registration to your system from another Registrar?

Yes you can. The registration period you choose with us (from 1-10 years) will be added to your existing registration.

I have a Domain Name registered already (through another Registrar) and would like to take advantage of free parking. Can I do so?

Yes, if you transfer the Domain to us first. Otherwise, our normal fees of $10/month would apply.

What is this Free Domain Parking you offer?

Domain Parking assures the correct serving of a Domain on a set of Domain Name Servers - a registration requirement - and avoids Lame Delegation. It does not include the resolution of specific hosts, such as www, mail, ftp etc.
